August 25, 2008 - Breaking News! iGeoCacher "native" for the iPhone/iPod touch is now in the App Store. Check out the videos below to tour various features.
It features local storage of cache data in a built in SQLite DB which makes it possible for iPod Touch owners to join the fun and complete integration with the built in GPS for 3G phones.
This is one of my favorite applications for the iPhone. My daughters love to "geocache" with their dad. It truly is a great family activity. You can read more about it at www.geocaching.com .
One of the issues in geocaching is having all of the relevant cache information with you as you "hunt" for caches. Most folks print off information on their targets and take the paper into the field. There is a lot of interest (and convenience) in going "paperless" by taking the information with you on a PDA or a laptop. Laptops are cumbersome and PDA's are limited but now with the iPhone we have the best of both worlds. This application allows you to easily assemble all of the information you will need as downloaded GPX files from the geocaching site and make them available via the web on your iPhone in a format and presentation that makes it truly easy to go "paperless."

The web app will continue to be available for any that may be using it with pre 2.0 iPhones or even other mobile devices so have no fear. Existing web app users will find their existing cache database will transfer seamlessly to the new software as well. Web app info and docs are here.
